TikTok can no longer be ignored in the world of digital content creation. Although the original app (then called "Douyin") has been around since 2016, the hype around the video app only started around October 2020. Coincidence it is not, as it was during that period when people had to stay indoors due to the covid pandemic. So there was huge time for short funny videos and endless scrolling. The app also caught on in Belgium and has been wildly popular ever since.
Anno 2023, "TikTokker" is indeed a real job. As a TikTok creator, you can make (good) money at it, often get PR packages from companies and are your own boss.

It's important to stay active on the app because TikTok works with an algorithm. The more you start posting, the smarter that algorithm can get based on your content.
For example, you always create food content; the algorithm then goes to work to plug your into a niche. Using that information, the algorithm can push your content to the right audience. - Amir Motaffaf
Quality
On TikTok, you certainly don't need to film your content with a professional camera, integenels, people prefer to watch relatable and "real" content. So a good smartphone is enough.

There are certain tools to see what the most trending hashtags, words and sounds are. One is TikTok's own Creative Center. But the best tip for spotting trends is actually to keep scrolling. - Amir Motaffaf
