About the podcast
We can say with some certainty that few, if any, people can answer “yes” to all three questions. Flemish people report suffering from burnout symptoms.

Especially during the coronavirus pandemic, the line between work and personal life has become blurred for many, which requires a great deal of adaptability. Our work is a major part of our daily lives, which is why it’s so important to develop strategies there as well to ensure our well-being.
The fact that we are able to deliver such a high-quality product that has received so many enthusiastic responses is partly thanks to Chase Creative's professional guidance. — Sara Drieghe, Trustpunt, Ghent University
Over the course of six episodes, hosts Lore Vermeulen (Trustpunt, Ghent University) and Pieter Blomme (Chase podcast expert) will explore how we can make our work more manageable. Drawing on personal stories from Ghent University employees and discussions with experts, they offer solutions to work-related challenges in the HR podcast “The Better Work.” This includes professors Johan Braeckman, Els Clays, Lieven De Marez, Emelien Lauwerier, Eveline Schollaert, and professor/minister Petra de Sutter. In each episode, concrete tools are provided that you too might be able to apply at work.

The purpose of this HR podcast
In the words of Ghent University Rector Rik Van de Walle:
Mental well-being at work is often still a taboo subject. Together with Ghent University, we want to break that taboo. The real, relatable stories in this podcast can help us do just that. They complement the practical tools we provide to our employees to improve their well-being.
What was originally intended to be a project for and by UGent staff was quickly opened up to the general public. UGent Rector Rik van de Walle, among others, felt it was important for the podcast to be accessible to everyone. The more people who can learn from it, the better.
The process
The six-part HR podcast involved months of preparatory work. Chase and Ghent University quickly established a strong partnership. From the hosts to the guests to the testimonials: the role of the Ghent University staff in creating this podcast was indispensable. With the help of Sara and Lore from Trustpunt, the psychosocial welfare service at Ghent University, we were able to recruit dozens of colleagues to share their personal stories, including the rector and vice-rector. Hosts Pieter and Lore also both work at Ghent University.
As part of this collaboration, Chase was responsible for:
- Creative concept and podcast format
- Technical hosting & publishing
- Social media advertising campaign
- Your own podcast landing page & copywriting
- Podcast artwork, visuals, and audiograms
- Audio and video teaser creation

It was a pleasure working with young, motivated people who know how to get things done. I found it very easy to communicate with them; I was able to discuss any concerns and ask questions. I am very pleasantly surprised by the professionalism evident in the final product. — Lore Vermeulen, Trustpunt UGent
The results
Just one week after its launch, “The Better Work” had already reached the #1 spot in the health category on Apple Podcasts. In the overall rankings, it took seventh place, finishing ahead of a number of established names in the Flemish podcast scene. In addition to these impressive figures, we also observed a great deal of enthusiasm among Ghent University staff, and the social media campaign was widely shared with the target audience. This also enabled us to generate significant awareness and engagement around the theme of well-being at work.

We are already very pleased with these results and, above all, hope that our listeners have also been able to take some tips away with them!
You can find the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and, of course, on The Better Work website.
I’m very happy that I was able to take part in this. Personally, I think this is a very successful podcast series featuring great testimonials about well-being at work, which are then discussed by experts. Highly recommended! (Mieke van Herreweghe — Vice-Rector, Ghent University)
